Because your boss has direct influence over your career, a positive relationship with your boss can positively impact you. When your boss experiences success, extending congratulations should be an appropriate gesture. Whether the occasion is personal or professional, send a short message to congratulate the boss when the circumstances arise. The message need not be fancy -- just enough to extend your well wishes.

Write a short note inside the blank card to congratulate your boss for a personal or professional achievement. For example, if your boss just got married or had a baby, you might write, “Dear Ms. Anderson, Congratulations on your recent marriage. I wish you much happiness in your new life.” Sign your name to the card and place it on your boss’ desk or “in basket.”

Send a short email to your boss to congratulate him for a personal or professional accomplishment. For example, if your boss just received a promotion, you might write, “Dear Mr. Peters, Congratulations on your recent promotion. Your hard work and dedication make this advancement well earned.” Sign your name to the email and send it.

Write a casual note of well wishes to congratulate your boss more informally. For example, when your boss makes a successful presentation or conducts a strong meeting, write a brief note on a sheet of paper. For example, you might write, “Congratulations on the great presentation! Your hard work really showed!” Sign your name and leave the note on your boss’ desk.

25 Congratulations on Your New Job Wishes That People Love to Hear

wishes to boss for new assignment

Retirement is something everyone must experience in life someday, retirements are worth celebrating same way we celebrate other events. Most times retirements come with double feeling, first there is this bad feeling that you’re about to leave the job you have been doing for long and also the good feeling that at least you have to rest from the day to day struggles. One of the things that retirees will always cherish are the good will messages from family and friends.

You’ll agree with me that even with great intentions and all the efforts in the world, retirement messages can sometimes be difficult to write for a co-worker. If you have to remain in the workplace yourself and someone you were working with is now moving on, you might realise that sometimes there’s this feeling of envy that occurs when someone retires. Don’t let that ugly feeling of envy prevent you from wishing a retiree a happy retirement. Keep in mind all the time they invested at work to achieve this goal. It’s now time for them to move on, one day, it’ll be your time. The question now is “How do you wish your co-worker a wonderful retirement and let him or her know how much they will be missed”?

In this article, We have brought together a collection of best retirement messages to send to someone you know.

Tips for thanking your boss

  • Tip #1: If your boss sends you an appreciation email or tells in person, a simple reply of “Thank You” may be enough. The examples below will be longer messages as I imagine different situations when a boss may express appreciation.
  • Tip #2: Don't make unfavorable comparisons to other bosses. For example, don’t write, "You are so much better than John as a boss."
  • Tip #3: Be specific, if there was something specific that you want to thank the boss for. The examples below are based on hypothetical situations, so if you can be more specific, your note may be perceived as better (you can also download my How to write a better thank-you note guide). In the examples, words like project, process, program, or position, could be replaced with what is relevant for your situation.
  • Tip #4: Read through all of the examples for inspiration. If you are copying and pasting into an email, you could combine bits for different examples.
