“Your life is your message to the world. Make sure it’s inspiring.”
When I was looking for a suitable introductory quote for this blog, I came across the above saying – about our lives being our message to the world – and it stopped me in my cyber-tracks.
I love it!
It was just the reminder I needed that it’s who we are, and how we live our lives, that speaks far louder than our words ever will. This rings particularly true in the wake of the US presidential race and election.
And yet, words are important, too. As such, I have always loved inspirational and thought-provoking quotes. They make me think, they make me feel and they remind me to keep dreaming. Perhaps most importantly, however, the right quote can inspire me to make the necessary tweak in whatever area of my life could use a good tweak at any given moment 🙂

Wise Owl Wisdom Inspirational Quote Cards
The owl artwork on this sweet little set of 30 inspirational quote cards was created by my niece, Melanie Pope. She is a painter and had made a print of her original owl painting – and when I saw it, I knew I’d found the perfect image for the cover of the quote cards.
Each card is 2 inches x 2 inches. The owl is on the front of each card and then on the back of each is a different quote.
Here are a few more of the quotes:
“How could I expect more from the Universe when I didn’t appreciate what I already had?”
– Sarah Ban Breathnach
“We cannot see our reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.”
– Taoist Proverb
“If you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely going to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.”
– Warren Buffett

Ideas on How to Use the Cards
They can be placed face down in a small dish on a coffee table and then with your morning coffee or tea, you can pick up a card and see if resonates with you. If not, pick up another!
My friend, Pamela, gave me some quote cards a few years ago and to this day, I still pick one up pretty much every day. Why? Because:

A wise owl spouts quotes to your terminal, inspired by cowsay 📚
After making an ASCII owl, the desire came to let it inspire me. The module builds a quote database by fetching the BrainyQuotes quotes of the day once a day, any day you ask the owl for some wisdom. It adds those quotes to the database and chooses a random quote with which to learn you.
Inspired and powered by cowsay. Quote fetching is a rewrite of quoter.
$ npm install -g owl-wisdom
Get inspired every time you open your terminal by putting it in your :
$ echo owl-wisdom >>~/.bashrc
Besides the owl, all the creatures of cowsay are available, or you can add a path to your own cow file:
$ owl-wisdom path/to/file.cow
$ owl-wisdom stegosaurus
The database is saved as in your home directory. Here's what it looks like so you could link in and add your own quotes if so desired. It is simply a JSON file:
