March 20, 2019 Anniversary Wishes for Wife 5 comments

When folks you know are expecting or have just received a special delivery, let ' em know how you feel with these baby shower wishes.

Being a baby shower guest sounds like easy business, right? Simply RSVP on time, pick a gift from the registry, wear something nice, play the Purse Game, eat some cake and your guest duties are done.

Not so fast. There’s still the matter of baby shower wishes. What to write in a baby shower card seems easy enough, but when it’s time to put pen to paper, you may find you don’t know the right baby shower messages to include.

Maybe you don’t know the mama that well, or maybe you know her so well that wrapping up the creation of life into a sentence is just too daunting a task. Before you decide to ditch the baby shower card messages in exchange for a more simple “To:” and “From:” generic gift tag, try a few lines from our long list of ideas of what to write in a baby shower card.

Baby Shower Card Etiquette

You wouldn’t think you’d need advice from Miss Manners regarding what to write in a baby shower card, but following a few easy baby shower card etiquette rules will ensure you won’t make a baby or mommy-to-be faux pas.

  • To whom it may concern: Even though baby showers have traditionally been ladies-only affairs, modern times mean that the celebrations are changing. The invitation may give you clues as to whom your baby shower messages should be addressed. If it doesn’t, inquire with the hostess when you RSVP. Or, play it safe and address your baby shower wishes to the “New Parents.”
  • Speak from the heart. While we’ve included plenty of great baby shower wishes to select from below, if you want your baby shower messages to be your own, use words from the heart.
  • Open to the public. If the mama is your best friend or sibling, you may have plenty of inside jokes. However, since you won’t know if she—or a gift assistant—will be reading the card messages aloud, skip any wishes for baby shower that might be inappropriate or too easily taken out of context.
  • Don’t forget baby. Mom and dad may be the center of attention at the shower, but don’t forget baby! In addition to baby shower wishes for the parents-to-be, say something sweet meant for the wee one entering the world.
  • K.I.S.S. When writer’s block sets in, K.I.S.S it. That is: “keep it simple, stupid.” After all, sometimes short and sweet is just right.
  • Where’s the love? Signing off the card with “love” may be sincere and heartfelt for someone who’s close to you. However, if the parents-to-be are coworkers or someone you’ve known for just a short while, consider one of the closers below for your baby shower wishes.
    • Best,
    • Your friend,
    • Blessings to you,
    • Happiness to you and your new family,
    • Happy baby!
    • Over the moon with excitement,
    • Joy to you,
    • XOXO!
    • Hugs and cuddles to your little one to come,

Some baby showers do away with disposable greeting cards and request guests to instead write their baby shower wishes inside the cover of a beloved children’s book. That can be a lot of pressure given your baby book messages may live on that child’s bookshelf for years to come, whereas a card can just end up in the trash. The good news is that so many wonderful baby and kids’ books can help inspire what to write in a baby shower card. Here are a few of our reads for little ones and the baby book messages to match.

  1. The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams: Always know that you are loved, baby. And what makes anything real is love.
  2. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein: A generous heart is always beautiful, especially to those in need. May you always be kind to others as well as to yourself, little one.
  3. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak: Adventure is waiting all around you, baby! “Let the wild rumpus start!”
  4. The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne: May you find friends all through your life as wonderful and special as those living in the Hundred Acre Wood.
  5. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle: I can’t wait to watch you grow and become your very own version of a beautiful butterfly.
  6. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown: Goodnight, sweet baby. I wish you sleepy nights filled with happy dreams to chase when you wake in the morning.

Baby Shower Wishes for Girl

If the parents-to-be are waiting for delivery day to find out the sex of the baby, baby shower wishes have to stay more generic. But when thinking about what to write in a baby shower card, if you know a new little girl is about to enter the world, crank up “Pretty in Pink” and include these sweet baby shower messages for a baby girl.

  1. As parents, you may wish to give your little girl the sun, the moon and the stars. My wish for you is to see yourself when you look at her through loving eyes.
  2. Sugar, spice and everything nice; this is now what your new family’s made of.
  3. We’re tickled pink to meet your new baby girl. Good health to you through the remainder of your pregnancy, and best wishes to you on delivery day.
  4. You selfies are about to get 100 percent sweeter! Congrats on your mini-me-to-be!
  5. Excited to meet the new little lady in your life. May she be as smart, sweet and sassy as her mama!
  6. One minute you’re dressing her in tutus and pink bows, the next you’re buttoning the back of her bridal gown. Enjoy all the little moments; they fly by fast!

Baby Shower Wishes for Second Baby

When a baby is so nice parents decide to do it twice, the wishes for baby shower changes to focus on the growing family. For the sprinkling of second-time parents, select from these baby shower wishes for second baby.

  1. You’ve planted the seeds, now it’s time to watch them bloom. Congratulations to your budding family!
  2. Looks like the stork knows where you live! Second baby blessings to you.
  3. May big brother/sister be nicer to the new baby than you were to me when we were growing up. Congratulations, sis!
  4. You’ve got parenting down pat! But let’s still hope baby doesn’t put your skills to the test. Happy baby day!
  5. Your first child has brought so much joy to our lives that we just can’t wait to meet the second! Best wishes to your growing family.
  6. You two prove there’s plenty of love to go around. Congratulations on your new addition!

Let’s face it, a new baby is a complete game changer. Mom- and dad-to-be might have once been the ones doing the day drinking, napping and pulling all-nighters, but baby’s about to take over those duties. Humor is a good way to poke a little fun at the parenting firsts and fails that are sure to come. Here are some funny baby shower wishes to help bring on the belly laughs.

  1. Moms may be superheroes, but that doesn’t mean you have to prove you have superpowers. Get the epidural!
  2. May your odds for getting sleep be ever in your favor.
  3. Forget the accessories, baby spit-up, baby poop and other unidentified stains will now complete your outfit. Wear it well, mama!
  4. A grand adventure is about to begin. Be sure to pack your survival gear! (Oh yeah, and enjoy the journey!)
  5. Your baby will always be No. 1 in your life—even when he’s smearing the walls with No. 2.
  6. Thank you for having a baby I can cuddle, spoil and love on—and then hand back when she starts to cry. You’re a real trooper!
  7. Of all the people who’ve puked on you, your baby will be the best!
  8. May the sass not be strong with this one!
  9. Just think, in a few short weeks you’re going to have…wine again! Cheers to that…um, and the new baby.
  10. Delivery day equals losing 10 pounds in one day! Who knew babies were the best diet ever?
  11. While you’re up doing nighttime feedings, just picture me…sleeping comfortably in my warm, soft bed. Sweet dreams, mama!
  12. Just remember when you show your boobs in public, it’s now to feed, not for beads.
  13. I always knew you were crafty. Good work on your best DIY project yet!

“Motherhood: All love begins and ends there.” —Robert Browning

Send Sweet Baby Shower Wishes: What to Write in a Baby Shower Card

baby showers wishes

We had my SIL’s shower! She was her beautiful, glowy self. It wasn’t at my house, but I wanted to contribute something to the day, a keepsake that she could take home and cherish forever. I saw something, somewhere (Pinterest probably) that sparked an idea. I didn’t want it to be too much work for anyone (people at a party really don’t want to think, myself included). These WISHES were just right –  small enough so that you could write something quick, but sweet enough to save and read over again through the years. And an endearing way to decorate the nursery…perhaps?

You, too, could make these! By using paper that you have at home — like wrapping paper (small, light patterns work best), scrapbooking paper, rubber stamps on plain paper, colored paper, or let the kids decorate each animal — this project will be totally free! Just remember, if you use a thinner paper then you might want to glue it to some card stock before you trim.

Here are some good papers to use if you want to buy something new for this project:

~ Pastel card stock

~ Patterned scrap book paper

I used mini clothespins and ribbon to hang up the wishes. But you could also put them in a keepsake box or paste them in a book.

Now we just wait for baby!!

What should a baby shower message convey?

The most important part of the baby shower message is the body of the card. What the baby shower message should convey depends on the type of gathering and how close you are with the parents-to-be.

If you’re a work colleague or an acquaintance, for example, a simple message of congratulations is appropriate. If you’re a close friend or a relative, it’s always fitting to write something meaningful, emotional, and inspirational. A lovely quote on motherhood sounds adorable and personable. Don’t forget that personal sentiments are most appreciated by parents.

If you’re feeling stuck and need the inspiration to get those words out, we’ve gathered some sweet baby shower card wishes and delightful baby shower card quotes.
