EFC flyweight king Nkazimulo Zulu will make his fourth title defence against Englishman Jake Hadley in Cape Town on April 13.
The fight will serve as the co-main event at EFC 78, which is headlined by JP Buys (6-2) battling Luthando Biko (5-1) for undisputed bantamweight honours at GrandWest Arena.
Hadley (3-0) went 4-2 as an amateur, notably registering two rare submissions wins via gogoplata, before rattling off three first-round victories in 2018 under the Golden Ticket Fight Promotions banner.
The Birmingham-based Team Fearless product TKO’d Daryl Grant (3-3) in his professional debut and saw off Adrian Molenda (1-1) and Reece Street (0-21) with rear-naked chokes last year.
Meanwhile, Zulu (10-2-1) has ruled the EFC 57kg division for over three years since its inception, having previously held the bantamweight belt in the organisation.
‘Zulu Boy’ reasserted his pedigree by defending his crown with a fifth-round finish of Straight Blast Gym Cape Town standout Gary Joshua (4-1) at EFC 75 in November.
The 29-year-old striking specialist, who trains under coach Walter Wendt in Alberton, was the first South African to compete in the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter Series in 2016.
