Neil du Plessis will face fellow middleweight Gordon Roodman in the prelims of EFC 77 at Time Square in Pretoria on March 16.
Du Plessis (3-1), the older brother of double division king Dricus (12-2), returned to winning ways by swiftly submitting EFC newcomer Roger Griffin (3-7) in his last test in December.
Roodman (3-6-1) was also meant to fight last month against former welterweight champion Dallas Jakobi (7-5-1), having had his previous bout with Mzwandile Hlongwa (4-0) ruled a no-contest in March 2018 after an unintentional foul.
However, Roodman fell ill, with his replacement Mark Kamba (2-3) going on to lose to Jakobi on a week’s notice as he failed to answer the bell for the third round.
EFC 77 is headlined by a lightweight title fight between ex-champ Martin van Staden (26-11) and Englishman Joe Cummins (5-1).
Also on the main card, Australian light heavyweight Shaw Dean (4-0) will return to the hexagon to scrap with South Africa’s Quinton Rossouw (2-0).
